लोग कहते हैं मुझे,

लोग कहते हैं मुझे,
पत्थर सा दिल कर लो,
सागर सा विशाल हृदय कर लो,
चाँद-सूरज की तरह स्थिर हो जाओ,
बुरा सपना समझ सब बातें भूल जाओ,
देखो सब ठीक हो जाएगा….

कर लूँ मैं सब कुछ,
जो तुम इन सवालों का जवाब दे दो,

पत्थर तब तलक ही द्रन रहता है,
जब तलक़ हवा-पानी उसे हिलाने की ताक़त नहीं रखते,
तेंज आँधियाँ जो सौ बार आएँ,
पत्थर में भी अपने निशान छोड़ जाती हैं,
और जो ना सह पाए वो,
दरख्त की दरारें दे जाती हैं,
और जो इससे भी ज़्यादा हद पर हो जाए,
पत्थर को टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर,
कंकड़ बना देती है…

तब कहाँ वो पत्थर कठोर रह पाता है?

सागर तब तलक ही विशाल रहता है,
ग्रह-नक्षत्र, चाँद-तारे, उसके अनुकूल रहते हैं,
जो दिशा-दशा बदले इनकी भी,
ज्वार-भाटा, सूनामी कितने तूफान ले आते हैं,

तब कहाँ वो सागर शांत-गंभीर रह जाता है?

जो चाँद सूरज की बात करते हो,
सूरज तपता रह जाता है,
चाँद घटता-बढ़ता नज़र आता है,

दोनों भी स्थिर कहाँ रह पाते है?

जब ग्रहण दोनों को लग जाता है…

सपने रातों में आते है,
नींद खुली टूट जाते है,

क्या दिल में दर्द, जिस्म में घाव देकर जाते है?

देखो सब ठीक हो जाएगा…
कर लूँगीं मैं सब कुछ…
जो तुम इन सवालों के…
सही जवाब मुझको दे दो …

ना दे पाओ तो, इतना तो समझ लो,
साधारण सा दिल और साधारण सी भावनाएँ लिए,
मैं "निधि" हूँ…
कुछ और ना बनने को कहो…

Chand-suraj ki tarah sthir ho jao,

Patthar tab talak hi dran rehta hai,
Jab talak hawa-pani use hilane ki takat nahin rakhate,
Tej andhiyan jo sau bar ayein,
Patthar mein bhi apne nishan chhod jati hai,
Aur jo na seh paye wo,
Darakht ki dararein de jati hai,
Aur jo is se bhi zyada had paar ho jaye,
Patthar ko tukde-tukde kar,
Kankad bana deti hai…

Tab kahan vo patthar kathor reh pata hai?

Sagar tab talak hi vishal rehta hai,
Grah-Nakshatr, chand-tare, uske anukool rehte hain,
Jo disha-dasha badle inki bhi,
Jwar-bhata, tsunami kitne tufan le aate hain,

Tab kahan wo sagar shant-gambhir reh jata hai?

Jo chand suraj ki bat karte ho,
Suraj tapta reh jata hai,
Chand ghat ta-badhta nazar aata hai,

Dono bhi sthir kahan reh pate hain?

Jab grahan dono ko lag jata hai…

Sapne raton mein aate hain,
Neend khuli toot jaate hai,

Kya dil me dard, jism me ghav dekar jate hai?

Dekho sab theek ho jayega…
Kar loongi main sab kuchh…
